Fez is the oldest city in Morocco and also the most authentic. Is there the oldest university in the world and the largest and oldest mosque in Africa. Entering in the Medina of Fez (declared World Heritage by Unesco) you access a completely different reality. It's a maze with more than 9000 streets, each only one or two meters wide, free of vehicles - only donkeys. It's complete chaos, the streets are dirty, poor, colored. I'd love to have explored all by myself but it is impossible to visit without a guide, any non-local will be lost in the immensity of alleys and side streets. Lots of handicrafts, leather, spices.
